What is the City Sidewalk Policy?

The new sidewalk policy went into effect January, 2014. This program moves away from burdening individual property owners with the entire cost of sidewalk installation and maintenance for sidewalks adjoining their property, towards the creation of 5 Sidewalk Improvement Districts (SID) funded by an annual sidewalk assessment fee.

The website has information about the policy, a summary fact sheet, the official map of the Sidewalk Improvement Districts, and the adopted local law.

How will the City assess and charge the sidewalk assessment fee?

Low-Foot-Traffic Lots will pay an Annual Maintenance Fee of $70. All other lots will pay an Annual Maintenance Fee of $140, plus a Square Footage Fee ($0.015 per square foot of buildings on a lot) and a Frontage Fee ($30 for each 55 feet of lot frontage or portion thereof)
